Nothing inspires more to cook than the Holidays, I get extremely creative and I try a lot of new recipes, actually my biggest inspiration is to prepare the recipe and share it with you ladies here! This year I’m spending Thanksgiving in New York city at my cousin’s house who’s boyfriend is American so I  wanted to bring our Latino culture to their table, which for a Latina like me (I’m Mexican) it’s easy to spice up any dish and in this case I decided to prepare Chipotle & Almonds Bisque, perfect entry for any Holiday Dinner!

For the recipe I used La Morena Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce products, it took less than 20 minutes to prepare it. For those of you who don’t know what chipotle peppers are, they’re  smoke- dried jalapeño. La Morena Chipotle Peppers are in Adobo Sauce  perfect to enhance sauces, soups and stews! Chipotles give a delicious flavor to any dish and they’re not as spicy as you think. To reduce the spicy level when cooking with chipotles, just remove the seeds from the peppers.

La Morena products can be found at many supermarkets across the country, I bought mine at Cardenas store. You’ll find La Morena products where the canned chiles and sauces are and the best thing, you’ll never pay more than $3 for a 7 oz can.

Why Chipotle Bisque?

During our Holiday parties everyone has to bring a dish and when I saw what everyone was bringing  I saw lots of appetizers, that’s when I thought a soup would be the perfect starter for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Here’s what you’ll need to prepare the Chipotle Bisque:

  • 2 tbs of La Morena Chipotle Peppers are in Adobo Sauce.
  • 2 tbs of tomato suace
  • 1 cup of carnation evaporated milk
  • 1 tbs of butter1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of almonds
  • 2 cubes of Knorr Suiza (Caldo de pollo)

  • Mix all the ingredients, except the butter.
  • Place the butter on a pan, stir the mix and heat it for 5 minutes until boiling.
  • Serve immediately.
  • (Optional) Decorate with cilantro, almonds, even avocado

That’s it! accompany the Chipotle & Almonds Bisque with some bread and I assure you, your family and friends will truly enjoy it! Let me know what you think if this recipe and share your favorite Holiday Latino recipes with us! And make sure to visit La Morena to get creative! Wishing you and your family a Happy Holidays!
