Disneyland Rainy Days Are The Best! Here’s Why and Tips.

Don’t let wet weather put a damper on day of fun! All you have to do is be prepared!

Before this ocassion we’ve never been to the Disneyland Resort on a rainy day, the word rain would scare me! But after our experience, Disney Rainy Days, it’s our favorite time e to visit the Disneyland Resort and here’s why:

Neither rain nor drizzles nor gloom of clouds can stop a day of unforgettable fun at the Disneyland Resort.

No Crowds

That means you have the Disneyland Resort for yourself, I’m not kidding! People don’t plan a trip to the Disneyland Resort when the forescast says rain and even if they go, most of them are not prepared and as soon as it starts raining they leave the parks, I’ve never seen Main Street U.S.A so empty it was awesome!

No Wait! Ride your favorite attractions … again and again

On rainy days the attendance to the Disneyland Resort really decreases, we went on 5 attractions in 2 hours at Disney California Adventure, how amazing! The reason is because there’s hardly any wait at all the attractions! 5 to 15 minutes on most them even the most popular attractions! Which means, rainy days can mean more opportunities to ride your favorite attractions!

There’s Lots to do even when it’s raining!

Even on a rainy day, there are plenty of exciting things to see and do at the Disneyland Resort, the outdoor  attractions don’t close unless there’s  thunderstorms, we went on Big Thunder Mountain and it was fun! But if you don’t want to get wet there’s plenty of indoor attractions to enjoy, such as Star Wars Launch Bay ,we went on  Hyperspace Mountain  3 times! Star Tours, the Adventure Continues in Tomorrowland, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, to mention some of our favorites at Disneyland park. Over at Disney California Adventure some our must attractions, Soarin’ Over California, Toy Story, Midway Mani, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ , Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!  for the artists in the house and one of my kid’s favorite Disney Animation Academy.

What to bring

If there’s rain in the forecast pack a backpack with: Ponchos, rainy boots and umbrellas. I brought the heavy backpack into the Disneyland Resort and put it in a locker at the entrance of Disneyland Park, there’s lockers outside the park as well and at the entrance of Disney California Adventure. It’s only $7 and you can open and close the locker as many times as you like until they close the park.

If you don’t want to carry your rainy gear, you don’t have to, rainy days are a great opportunity to buy cute Disneyland merchandise and the Disneyland Resort has all you need for rainy days. You can purchase ponchos and umbrellas in shops throughout both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks. If you don’t see them on the shelves, just ask a cast member.

Plan Your Visit

Since attendance to the Disneyland Resort is low on rainy days you don’t have to plan your visit to the parks as much, but you should still have a plan.

When we visited the Disneyland parks the forecast said it would rain after 3pm, we got to the parks at 9am and went straight to the outdoor attractions such as; California Screamin’ we went on it 3 times! Goofy’s Sky School and Cars Land, by Noon we were done with Disney California Adventure because the wait on most of the rides was between 5 and 15 minutes. We did the same at Disneyland Park and enjoyed, Matherhorn Bobsleds, Astro Orbitor, Big Thunder Mountain which we rode again when it was raining and it was so much fun!

We’re going to get wet!

That’s what my son said when we were at Frontierland so we decided to get ready and went to get our rainy gear at the lockers, 10 minutes later it was pouring! And hundreds of guests were leaving the park, but we were ready for the Niagara falls, geared with ponchos, rainy boots and umbrella we went on our favorite rides again!

As soon as the rain started, the lines on most of the raiders started to go down, as you can see the wait on most of them was between 5 and 15 minutes!

Enjoy the Parks, There All Yours!

I’m not kidding! We felt like we were the only ones at the park because we could go anywhere we wanted and we didn’t have to wait. After we enjoyed all our favorite attarctions 2 or 3 times we decided to take a break and enjoyed a delicious sourdough bowl of clam chowder at Street Veranda in New Orleans Square.

Disclosure: I received 4 Park Hopper Tickets to visit the Disneyland Resort on a rainy day and be able to provide these tips. As always and as a BIG Disney fan, all opinions are my own.
